La norma definisce i termini che riguardano i principali tipi di apparecchi di sollevamento, i parametri, i concetti generali e le parti componenti. Inoltre, definisce i termini relativi ai dispositivi di limitazione e di indicazione e quelli relativi ai carichi.

This document was prepared by Techni cal Committee ISO/TC 96, Cranes, Subcommittee SC 2, Terminology.

This fifth edition cancels and replaces the fourth edition (ISO 4306-1:2007), which has been technically revised.

The main changes are as follows:

- deletion of the terms not used;
- addition of the terms currently used in the portfolio of ISO/TC 96 standards;
- addition of the terms refere nced in ISO/ TC 96/SC 5 standards;
- addition offigures illustrating the definitions.
