This report presents the results of a study on the practical implementation of substitution of hazardous chemicals, as an occupational health and safety risk management measure, in workplaces across the EU.
Funded by DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, the publication examines if there is a need for an EU-wide common guidance on substitution, with results indicating that such a document would be welcome.
It recognises that various approaches to substitution - as well as challenges to these approaches - exist, and there-fore the bulk of the report focuses on developing a common approach to substitution and presenting it as a guidance document.
