Sistema mondiale armonizzato di classificazione ed etichettatura delle sostanze chimiche (GHS): Settima edizione riveduta

Il GHS affronta la classificazione delle sostanze chimiche per i tipi di pericolo e vuole armonizzare tali tipi di pericoli, comprese etichette e schede di sicurezza. 

Esso mira a garantire che le informazioni sui rischi fisici e la tossicità da sostanze chimiche siano le migliori possibili per l a tutela della salute umana e l'ambiente durante la manipolazione, trasporto e uso.

Il GHS fornisce anche una base per l'armonizzazione di norme e regolamenti sulle sostanze chimiche a livello nazionale, regionale e mondiale. 

Questa settima edizione rivista del GHS contiene varie disposizioni nuove o rivedute, tra cui, tra l'altro:

- I criteri riveduti per la classificazione di gas infiammabili nella categoria 1; 
- Vari emendamenti intesi a chiarire le definizioni di alcune classi di pericolo per la salute; 
- Ulteriori istruzioni per estendere la copertura della sezione 14 delle schede di sicurezza a tutti i carichi sfusi trasportati secondo gli strumenti dell'Organizzazione marittima internazionale (IMO), indipendentemente dal loro stato fisico; 
- Dichiarazioni precauzionali rivedute e ulteriormente razionalizzate nell'allegato 3; 
- Un nuovo esempio dell'allegato 7 relativo all'etichettatura di imballaggi di piccole dimensioni con etichette ripiegabili.
