The 2025 edition of the Regulation concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID) is online on the website of the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF) in the Organisation’s three working languages (French, German and English).
A Russian version of this Regulation will be placed online in the course of 2025. This new edition of RID will also be published in English and French by two publishers whose contact details can be found on OTIF’s website.
The new RID will enter into force on 1 January 2025 and will replace the 2023 edition. However, under a general transitional measure, the provisions of the 2023 edition can still be applied until 30 June 2025. RID applies to the international carriage of dangerous goods by rail between its 45 States Parties in Europe, Asia and North Africa. In the European Union Member States, it also applies to national transport.
In order to facilitate multimodal transport, RID is closely coordinated with the dangerous goods regulations for road (ADR) and inland waterways (ADN). RID 2025 takes account of recent technical and scientific progress, which contributes to further increasing the safety of rail transport as a clean and energy-efficient mode of transport.
