Guidance on Good Manufacturing Practices for food contact plastic materials and articles

This Guidance on Good Manufacturing Practices for food contact plastic materials and articles, developed by AVEP (Valencian Plastic Industries Association) in association with AIMPLAS-Technological Institute of Plastics, has been evaluated based on the requirements set out in Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 of the European Parliament (EC) of 27 October 2004, on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, as well as those set out in Article 5-Quality assurance system, of Commission Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 of 22 December 2006, on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, specifically for the plastic materials and articles covered by Commission Regulation (EC) No 10/2011.

The main objective of this guidance document is to facilitate converters, storage and distribution companies and importers of plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food the implementation of requirements set out in Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practices for groups of materials and articles intended to come into direct or indirect contact with food.
